Porcelain Veneers
Imperfections such as chips, stains, and noticeable gaps can make you feel like you need to hide your smile.
Dr. Charles Porter can provide same-day or traditional porcelain veneers to conceal these flaws and create a smile you are proud to share.
Why are dental veneers such a popular treatment at our Charlotte, NC, practice?

Porcelain Veneers Can Create a Picture-Perfect Smile
Realistic Result
Your dental veneers will blend seamlessly with the rest of the smile because they are fabricated from dental-grade porcelain that is shade-matched to the rest of your teeth.
A Versatile Solution
Since a veneer covers the entire front surface of your tooth, it will conceal any flaws that previously detracted from its appearance. This means veneers can address multiple imperfections at once.
High-Quality Results
The porcelain material used to fabricate your dental veneers is designed to withstand normal biting forces. Often, they can last 10 years or longer with proper care.

What conditions can we address?
Conceal a Wide Variety of Dental Imperfections
Dental veneers are often recommended for a single tooth or teeth that are:
- Chipped
- Cracked
- Discolored
- Misshapen
- Misaligned
- Overcrowded
- Gapped
During your consultation, Dr. Porter will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your bite to determine if porcelain veneers can accomplish your goals.
However, there are some limitations to what the porcelain restoration can achieve...
You May Need Orthodontic Treatment for Misalignment
If you suffer from moderate to severe misalignment, veneers are most likely not the best solution for you. Typically, orthodontic treatment will be recommended to correct cases of significant malocclusion because it can affect the health of your bite. In some cases, Dr. Porter may suggest Invisalign® which he can oversee at his office in Charlotte. However, traditional braces may be necessary. Whatever your needs, you can rest assured that he will always make your best interests a priority when planning your treatment.

Traditional Veneers
Typically, Dr. Porter prefers and recommends traditional porcelain veneers for most patients because it is a more personalized treatment that allows for the greatest aesthetic enhancement. This process usually requires two appointments.

CEREC Veneers
The most obvious advantage of these veneers is that they can be provided in a single appointment. Dr. Porter most often recommends this treatment for a smaller number of veneers or less complex cases that can be handled without a lab's assistance.
Your Goals Are Most Important
However, your goals are always at the forefront of any cosmetic treatment. Regardless of which veneer treatment you choose, Dr. Porter will provide his honest opinion and work carefully to ensure for the most natural-looking results.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?
The industry average for porcelain veneers is $800 to $3,000 per tooth. However, since veneers are a highly personalized treatment, Dr. Porter will need to evaluate your case to determine the level of difficulty. He can then provide you with a more accurate cost estimate. To lower your up-front cost, you may consider applying for financing.

You Have Other Options But Veneers Are Highly Recommended
While there are other cosmetic treatments that can improve the appearance of your smile, they do not provide the same quality results as veneers. If you are primarily concerned with stubborn stains, teeth whitening may be able to temporarily boost your confidence in your smile. However, any other imperfections will still be visible. Dental bonding is also a popular alternative to veneers because it can cover the entire tooth. For this procedure, a composite resin is used. However, it does not provide the same realistic effects as dental-grade porcelain and is more prone to staining.
For these reasons, the treatments are usually recommended as short-term solutions which will later be upgraded. For a long-lasting lifelike smile enhancement, Dr. Porter highly recommends porcelain veneers. The only way to truly determine the best solution for your needs is a consultation at our office.
