It is hard to believe it's already October! This is one of the most beautiful times of year in Charlotte, as the leaves begin to change, and the temperature is perfect outdoors. The weather this week looks fantastic, and I hope everyone is able to enjoy some of it. The change in seasons helps put into perspective many transitions that have affected folks since March. Many students are transitioning back to some in-person classes, and those in the workforce may be adjusting to changes in how and where they work. Our team recognizes this may be a very challenging time for many, and we want to continue serving as a resource for your oral health.

Information continues to surface about what people can and should do during these times to stay healthy and protect loved ones. The sheer amount of conflicting information could be nauseating for anyone to process. Dr. Charlie Porter and I have been closely following the American Dental Association's (ADA) recommendations and guidelines for how to continue providing safe dental care. We are taking some extra steps at our office to keep our team and patients healthy (you may have seen the pop-up notification with new information prior to viewing this page). The ADA is a great resource to refer to for your oral health. Over the past month, they have shared two articles that I think are helpful. Both are posted below.

The common theme of these articles is that dentistry is so important for your overall health, and routine dental visits help dentists monitor your teeth and gums. The first article focuses more on the benefits of regular dental care for children, but the message certainly applies to the whole family. The second article goes into a little more detail of how dentistry is connected to other health conditions. Many of the first signs of diseases are subtle and go unnoticed by patients, and this is true for your teeth and gums. Much attention has been drawn to the many changes since March, and we want to bring focus back to your oral health. We don't want you to ever be in pain, especially if it can be prevented. We will continue following the ADA's guidelines as the seasons change, and we welcome new and existing patients to come visit us.  We are honored to protect your dental health.

Keep brushing and flossing!
